“CARTRIDGE INSERT SET FOR DRUG ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM FIELD OF THE INVENTION [001] The present invention generally relates to drug delivery systems, for example, external drug pumps and, in particular, to a set for inserting a cartridge, which contains a substance to be administered to a patient, in the delivery system. drug administration. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE MODALITIES [012] Reference is now made to Figures 1 and 2, which illustrate the apparatus 10 for administering a substance (e.g., insulin) to an individual, according to a non-limiting embodiment of the present invention. Typically, apparatus 10 includes a cartridge 12 (Figure 2) that contains the substance to be administered to an individual. Figure 2 illustrates a door 14 of a cartridge insertion assembly in the open position and the cartridge 12 balanced for insertion into a track 15 in the apparatus 10. [013] As seen in Figure 2, cartridge 12 includes a cartridge coupling element 16 (for example, a gear) for coupling (for example, engaging) with an activation mechanism 18 (seen in Figure 4 , which typically includes a motor, battery and control unit) that causes the substance contained in cartridge 12 to be dosed outside of cartridge 12 for eventual Petition 870190121487, of 11/22/2019, p. 9/22 5/8 administration to the patient. (In some embodiments, the cartridge coupling element 16 is mounted on one end of a drive screw.) The way in which the activation mechanism works to dose the substance out of the cartridge 12 is not relevant to this invention. As an example, the activation mechanism may function as in an external drug pump of the type described in United States Patent 20090093792 and 20090093793 or PCTIL2008 / 001312 Patent Application (published as WO 2009/044401), the descriptions of which are incorporated herein by reference. However, the invention is not limited to such a drug pump, and can be used for any kind of proper administration of substances, not only by needle piercing into the patient, but also transdermally (in which the substance is dosed via device 10 for a transdermal patch), by spraying (where the substance is dosed by device 10 for a spray nozzle), arrangement of micro needles and others. [014] It is noted that although the cartridge 12 is typically a single use item, the electronic means, batteries and engine and other elements of the system can be used more than once if desired. [015] As seen in Figure 3, according to a non-limiting embodiment of the present invention, port 14 includes a door coupling element 20 (for example, a gear, but could also be any other coupling element for transmitting movement rotating, such as a friction wheel) to effect the coupling (for example, engagement) between the cartridge coupling element 16 and a coupling element 22 (Figure 2) of the activation mechanism 18, as will be described in more detail below . The cartridge 12 has a septum 24 at an end opposite the cartridge coupling element 16. The septum 24 is pierced by a hollow needle 26 so that the contents of the cartridge 12 flow out of the cartridge 12 into the needle 26 and the from needle 26 to an exit orifice (not shown) for eventual administration to the patient. A cartridge limiter 28, which can be made of a rigid material (for example, plastic) or more preferably a resilient material (for example, an elastomer or silicone), is provided to stop the movement of the cartridge 12 during insertion into the apparatus 10 and prevent excessive insertion of the cartridge 12. The cartridge limiter 24 also prevents torque, which is generated by the activation mechanism 18 to turn the cartridge drive screw, from turning the cartridge 12. The cartridge limiter 28 is supported against a shoulder 30 of the cartridge 12. Figure 5 shows the cartridge 12 fully inserted in the apparatus 10 up to the cartridge stop 28 with the door 14 still open. [017] Reference is now made to Figures 6 and 7. The cartridge insertion set of the apparatus 10 includes a locking latch 32 which is mounted in a swing from a base 33 (Figure 7) of the apparatus 10. While inserting the cartridge in the apparatus 10, a rim 34 next to the cartridge coupling element 16 is lowered and slides over the locking latch 32. When the cartridge 12 is fully inserted into the apparatus 10, the rim 34 moves beyond the locking latch 32 and the locking latch 32 returns elasticly and rests on the rim 34, thus locking the cartridge in place. The user cannot remove the cartridge 12 from the device 10. Petition 870190121487, of 11/22/2019, p. 11/22 7/8 [018] Reference is now made to Figure 8, which illustrates the inner side of door 14. The door coupling element 20 mentioned above is in the middle of the inner side of door 14. On one side of element 20 is an element hinge 36 that pivotally connects (for example, by adjusting the pressure) to a corresponding socket 38 (seen in Figure 10) on the body of the apparatus 10. On the other side of the element 20 there is a closing element 40, which it is formed with a central hub 42 and one or more ramp elements 44 (in the illustrated embodiment, two inclined ramp elements 44 extend on either side of the hub 42). Even if the user has not completely inserted cartridge 12 into device 10, closing the door 14 (see Figure 9) causes the ramp elements 44 to slide and collide with the cartridge coupling element 16. The surfaces inclined elements of the ramp elements 44 push gently and by means of a wedge action, the cartridge coupling element 16 is fully seated in the apparatus 10, so that the septum 24 is pierced by the hollow needle 26 as described above, with reference to the Figures 4 and 5. This loading process reduces the rupture force (the initial force to remove the plunger after a long period of storage) and remove air bubbles from the fluid path. [022] Reference is now made to Figure 11. When the door 14 is completely closed, the hub 42 of the closing element 40 moves abruptly and is received in a fixed way in an abrupt displacement element 50 (curved abrupt displacement element ) so that the door 14 is properly attached to the body of the apparatus 10. [023] It will be considered by those skilled in the art that the present invention is not limited by what has been particularly shown and described above. More specifically, the scope of the present invention includes not only combinations but also sub-combinations of the characteristics described above, as well as modifications and variations thereof, which would occur to those skilled in the art from reading the preceding description, which are not in the art previous.

Claims (3) [1] 1. Cartridge insertion set, comprising: an apparatus (10) with a track (15) formed therein; and a cartridge (12) insertable in the track (15), the cartridge (12) comprising a cartridge coupling element (16) connectable to an activation mechanism (18) disposed in the apparatus (10) operative to cause a substance contained in the cartridge (12) is dosed outside the cartridge (12); characterized by a door (14) pivoted on the apparatus (10) comprising a door coupling element (20) arranged with respect to the cartridge (12) such that when the door (14) is in a completely closed position, the door coupling element (20) couples to the cartridge coupling element (16) with a coupling element (22) of the activation mechanism (18). [2] 2/3 with claim 1, characterized in that the cartridge (12) comprises a septum (24) at an opposite end of the cartridge coupling element (16), and the apparatus (10) comprises a hollow needle (26 ), where when the cartridge (12) is completely inserted into the apparatus (10), the needle (26) pierces the septum (24). Cartridge insertion assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the door (14) comprises a closing element (40) on an internal surface thereof, the closing element (40) comprising one or more more inclined ramp elements (44), where closing the door (14) causes the ramp elements (40) to slide and push the cartridge coupling element (16) so as to push the cartridge (12) completely into the device (10). 6. Cartridge insertion set, according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that the door (14) is formed with one or more ribs (46), in which when the door (14) is completely closed, the ribs (46) are received in one or more corresponding slots (48) formed in the apparatus (10). Cartridge insertion assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the door (14) comprises a closing element (40) on an internal surface thereof, the closing element (40) comprising a hub (42), in which when the door (14) is completely closed, the hub (42) is fixedly received in a pressure locking element (50). Cartridge insertion assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the coupling elements (16, 20) comprise gears. 9. Cartridge insertion set according to claim 1, characterized by comprising Petition 870190121487, of 11/22/2019, p. 15/22 Cartridge insertion assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that it additionally comprises a locking latch (32) mounted in balance from a base (33) of the apparatus (10), wherein when the cartridge (12 ) is completely inserted into the device (10), the locking latch (32) rests on a rim (34) of the cartridge (12), thereby locking the cartridge (12) on the track (15). 3. Cartridge insertion set according to claim 1, characterized in that when the cartridge (12) is completely inserted into the device (10), the cartridge (12) rests on a cartridge stopper (28) arranged in the apparatus (10). 4.
